White Label App Design
Summary
Project Overview:
One of my main roles during my time with Glofox was to design and deploy mobile apps for a variety of clients.
Company:
Glofox, 2016
Tools:
Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop
Team:
I worked with our sales team and lead mobile developer.
Platform:
iOS and Android mobile apps.
Project Goal:
The main goal was to create a branded mobile app for every new customer so that our white label app was customised for them.
My Contribution:
I was responsible for working with customers to ensure their branding was applied correctly and that they were happy with the design. I would then generate the apps and submit them to the app stores. I was also responsible for updating old apps and working with the development team on any new design or UX ideas.
Process
New customer apps:
When a new customer was being onboarded, I would inform them of what was required to brand their app (this would include logos, colour guides, and any photographs they would like to be included). I would then use Adobe Illustrator to create the mockups using the assets provided by the customer. We would then review the mockups and I would make any necessary adjustments until the customer was happy with the design. When the customer signed-off on the app design, I would then export the required assets and would generate the app using a tool created by our lead mobile developer. I would then test out the app to ensure the customers branding was correctly applied. I would also create the required icons and imagery required for the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Once everything was ready, I would submit the apps to the app stores and inform the customer when their apps were live.
White label app updates:
I was also responsible for making any updates to our core white label app. This included UI design updates to improve how the app looked, and UX updates based on feedback we received from users. For these, I worked very closely with our app developers when generating ideas and to ensure the designs were implemented properly. When there had been significant updates made to our core app, I would then update our customers apps by generating any new imagery, then compiling the code again, and resubmitting to the app stores.
