Tablet app
Project Goal:
The goal of this prototyping competition was to put into practise the skills and knowledge learnt during the OpenSAP 'Touch IoT' course.
My Contribution:
As this was a personal project, I was the only contributor. My work consisted of creating a “story” based on Design Thinking methodology, persona, and user experience journey.
Process
Research & Synthesis:
The first stage was to create a common scenario based on an IoT solution. I decided to base my project around a middle-sized farm that grows mushrooms in polytunnels. My research consisted of running user interviews with mushroom farm employees, and conducting desk research on existing products. From synthesising my interviews, I discovered potential pain-points that small mushroom farmers can have, including difficulties:
- monitoring the growing conditions within mushroom tunnels
- controlling stock levels
- tracking deliveries
- ensuring customer satisfaction.
Ideation & Solution generation:
Based on the information gathered in the research stage, I generated various solutions. For my final solution, I decided to create an application that would track the details of mushrooms through sensors (from growing, to storage, and delivery). The farm manager will be able to view these details anytime and from any location though the tablet app. This will give the manager more control over the farm, and will improve the mushroom quality and customer satisfaction.
UX Design & Prototyping:
To start the design phase, I created a persona, point of view, and user experience journey map. I then drew some high level wireframes using pen and paper. I created my final mockups using Mural, and make my prototype using SAP Build.
Final Outcome:
Out of 1,600 participants, my prototype was picked as a winner. I also got a Record of Achievement for completing the course.
